A video generated by machine learning, curated by a human
This piece—Computer Hallucinations—is the result of a collaboration with itself: the computer (an AI system) is the primary creator. Using Google’s AI technology as the generative engine, I designed the process and wrote custom Photon code to shape the environment in which the machine could “dream.” The system was given minimal constraints, allowing it to produce its own evolving imagery and motion. My role was to define the framework, select and refine the tools, and curate the final sequence, guiding the machine’s raw output into a coherent visual experience. The work explores authorship and agency, blurring the boundary between human intention and machine imagination.
